I got back from AUSA recently and I had a blast!
Now, the con had far fewer people then it did last year so that made for a far more relaxed atmosphere. However despite the lack of people, the panels did not disappoint!God Save the Queen Fashions
gave 3 panels over the con (leather working, footwear, and pattern making) all of which I was fortunate enough to attend. I just love GSTQs work so it was a great privilege to hear a little bit about her process and what information she had to share over this areas of costuming. I learned a lot attending her panels and getting to speak with her briefly afterwords was a very cool experience for me. I had actually based my cosplay of Luna strongly after GSTQ version (with her 8 panel petal dress and maruboa puff details), so I was happy I got to meet her and tell her how much of a help seeing her finished version of this costume was. After I told her this she commented that my costume appeared well made so, of course, I fangirled a little inside~
In addition to GSTQ from giving a few panels, Cupcake Cosplay
also gave some panels too as the cosplay guests at AUSA. They gave a makeup and wig styling panel as well as a panel sharing their experiences while in Japan for the World Cosplay Summit. Those two are absolute sweethearts and it was a complete joy hearing their experiences while at the WCS! They were wearing their Sailor moon dresses
when I saw them at the con and I was sad I couldn't catch one of them so that we could get some quick photos since I was dressed as Luna! But, regardless, it was just awesome seeing their Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon dresses, they were spectacular and it makes me what to buy a bedazzler right now and make one! (see a detail of the fantastic bead work here: aimeemajor.com/wp/wp-content/u…
Other than cosplay and cosplay panels, I also got to hang out with a bunch of my friends! Of course
was there for me to pal around with, but I also saw Luna
and those two are just the best ever
In addition to seeing old friends, I got to make some new friends too! Sarah
was just FREAKIN AWESOME AND IS THE BEST EVER and I hung out with so many other people that I don't think I can keep track of them all! But they definitely made the con for me
So, in conclusion, I had a great time at AUSA despite the small crowd turn out and I think I got some awesome photos out of it too! As I get them back I'll of course post my favorites here and on mine and Koi's facebook page
So thanks for reading and keeping up with me! And I hope you enjoy the photos to come!
